He is the winner of a PEN award for short fiction. He is also the author of ‘Waterloo Diamonds’, a social history of an Iowa community told through it’s baseball fortunes, ‘Seeing and Believing: The Story of the Telescope’, or How We Found Our Place in the Universe’.
